Stories from the Estate

To mark the centenary of the Slough Trading Estate, a key site of Britain’s industrial heritage, I was approached by the owners SEGRO to write a story collection based on their extensive archive, bringing to life the social, cultural and domestic history of the communities that lived and worked on the Estate over the last 100 years.

Each original story is paired with illustrations by Con. H Lomax, best known for his work for Ladybird Books, who produced many drawings for the Estate in the 1930s. A 96-page coffee table book of stories was produced as part of a collectors pack, which also includes two large format photography books.

Since then I have worked with SERGRO on a new corporate website (complete rewrite and new UX), copywriting for 2023’s award-winning NOW/THEN campaign, a report about a long-term regeneration project in East London, and an interactive video about the role of data centres in society.

Several of these projects picked up awards at the 2024 Lens Awards, including Gold for Best Interactive Video in the ‘style and creativity’ category, and Silver for Best Use of Video to Assist Reputation Management.
