Global Soundtracks
Adventures in Music

One of my side hustles during my ad agency years was a podcast called Global Soundtracks. Presented with wit and love by Tom Ravenscroft, who now does a show on BBC 6 Music, the podcast strived to uncover underground scenes and sounds with a genuine global perspective. From 2009-2010 we made 26 shows, and they’re all great, featuring insightful reports, field recordings and conversations with artists, fans and labels from Tokyo to Soweto to Norway and beyond. I came up with the ‘adventures in music’ positioning, which really captured the attitude behind this labour of love. I also worked on the show’s branding and communications, alongside producer (and friend) Emily Mules.

‘From the Pied Piper to your big sister, it is people that bring us the soundtracks to our lives. A machine may be able to guess what music we like based on our listening habits, but only a human can appreciate the adventure.’
